Obituary of Harvey Stulmaker

Harvey Stulmaker died peacefully at his home in Sarasota Florida on Monday, March 12, 2018 in at the age of 91. Harvey was born on March 27th, 1926 in Albany, NY to Rose and Benjamin Stulmaker. He graduated from Albany High School and immediately served in the Air Force during World War II. Upon graduation from Syracuse University, Harvey began his professional career as a Accountant, later forming his own accounting firm which he successfully operated until his retirement. Upon formally retiring from accounting he consulted with various individuals and companies in the Capital District. Harvey was a sports enthusiast avid golfer and tennis player. Harvey loved big band music and was a sought-after dance partner at every event he attended. Due to his knowledge, life-experiences and ability to look at issues impartially, Harvey became a trusted advisor and confident to many. Even during his busiest time of year (tax season), he never missed family dinner. He always spent a few hours at home before heading back to the office. Harvey always felt it was important to give back to his community and served on numerous boards and committees including Congregation Beth Emeth, Jewish Federation, and Daughters of Sarah Nursing Home as well as Colonie and Palm Aire Country Clubs. For over thirteen years Harvey volunteered weekly at Sarasota Memorial Hospital . Harvey is survived by his loving wife of 63 years Dona (Kimelblot) Stulmaker ; their three children, Robin (Ted) Sobol, Michael Stulmaker and Steven (Lisa) Stulmaker; and their six grandchildren; Paula (Chris) Priore, Hayley (Danny) Shoham, Ally Sobol, Molly Stulmaker, Jeffrey Stulmaker, and Sarah Stulmaker. He also leaves behind one great grandchild Eliana Shoham. He also leaves behind a sister, Esther Morris and His nephew Larry Siegel and his beloved niece Fran Strykowski as well as several additional nieces and nephews. A funeral is scheduled for Wednesday March 14, 2018 at Congregation Beth Emeth, 100 Academy Road in Albany at 11:30 AM . All are welcome to attend and celebrate Harvey's life. A period of mourning will take place at the home of Robin and Ted Sobol, 326 Highgate Drive Slingerlands, NY 12159 Following internment and Wednesday and Thursday Evening from 7 PM to 9 PM Hebrew Memorial Funeral Services, Sarasota / Manatee.
