Dear Connie & Family,
We were neighbors on Shannon Road in Cleveland Heights. We lived at 3653 Shannon and you lived across the street from us. We were friends and enjoyed each other's company,. We have 3 children; Marcy, almost 57, Jacqui, age 56, and Brian age 51. All are married and each have 3 children. They all went to Millikin Elementary with your children.
We were so proud to have a renown trumpist living on our street. Bernie was a friendly, great personality, and a very unassuming person. You were a very loyal volunteer at the school, We were good friends.
We are so sorry to read of Bernie's death. The years go by so fast, and people move away . We lost contact and did not know of your move to Florida. What a beautiful life he led performing in the most rewarding orchestras. He left a wonderful legacy for you and your children.
We send our deepest sympathy to you and your family. May his life be for a blessing. Roz & Harry & Family

It goes back a few years, but I clearly remember going to the Adelstein's home near Severance Miliken school in Cleveland Heights, Ohio to hang out with Bernie's son David. Bernie and Connie were always kind and generous while tolerating David and I as we listened to songs by Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrel such as "Ain't No Mountain High Enough" in David's bedroom. Bernie and Connie always had a smile whenever I entered their home -- and I was privileged to hear him practicing on several occasions. I took trumpet with David Zauder -- second chair to Bernie if I recall correctly -- and now both are gone. My deepest condolences to the entire Adelstein family.

Bernie and Connie were Al and my next door neighbors for many years. So many memories - Bernie showing me his leg brace, hearing him practice before concerts, Connie giving me small treasures for my sewing when they moved from Stoneybrook, our visits with them, and always dinner, when they had moved to their apartmentment. We were honored one year with the invitation to attend a Seder at their home and the birthday parties every five years at the Café Baci. Bernie had a distinctive voice that I will always remember. My condolences to Connie and the children. I will miss him.

Bernie was my trumpet teacher in the early 70's. He was a great teacher, a great player, and a great guy. I still think about things he taught me every day after all these years. His playing was an inspiration for me, an unattainable goal that I have tried to emulate ever since meeting him all those years ago. I never would have made it in the music business without him. My condolences to his family.
