Obituary of Joyce Bradford

Joyce Bradford, loving wife, mother and grandmother, passed away on April 27th, 2018 in Sarasota, Florida, where she enjoyed 30 great years. Joyce was born on October 19th, 1927, the daughter of the late Edwin and Lillian Geller. She is survived by her loving husband and best friend for 52 years Paul Bradford, her two children Steven Goldstein and Lisa Goldstein, their spouses Prudence Chase and Ira Novak, and her grandchildren William and James Goldstein. Joyce graduated from New York City's High School of Music & Art in 1944 where she fully realized her musical talent as a vocalist and pianist and went on to graduate from Brooklyn College in 1948. She was an accomplished voice and choral teacher in New York City for over 25 years, an active member of the UFT, a conductor and an opera singer with a three-octave range. Early in her career, she performed in the Midwest and in New York City and sang with Mayor Fiorello LaGuardia on the radio during the NYC newspaper strike. Joyce took a break to raise her children and resumed performing when she sang with the Key Chorale at Sarasota's Van Wezel Hall. The other activity that she excelled at and enjoyed immensely was playing tennis at Palm Aire, which she did throughout her retirement. Joyce Bradford has now joined the heavenly choir and will sing for eternity. Graveside services will be held at 11:30 am Tuesday, May 1st, 2018 at Sarasota National Cemetery, 9810 State Road 72, Sarasota.
